What do I Need.
- A full driving licence for at least 4 years, free from endorsements.
- You must not have a criminal record.
- You will need to be able to read a car number plate from a distance of a least 90 feet.
- Patience. A good sense of humour is not essential, but very helpful.
- You will need to pass a 3 part ADI examination, within a two year period.
Part 1 is the theory. This much the same as a driving test theory, it come in two parts the multiple choice and the hazard perception. However the questions are more difficult and the pass mark percentage is higher. 20 out of 25 in each of the four sections and for the multiple choice and you will need 57 out of 75.
Part 2 is your driving ability. This is very important part of the training. This test usually lasts 1 hr during this time you will be tested on your driving skills, have a eye test and carry out a number of safety questions. Achieving a good pass in this section will enhance your ability to carry out Part 3 successfully. You will have the chance to take this test 3 times. If you fail 3 times you will have to wait for 2 years to try again and then start again at Part 1.
Part 3 your instructional ability. We at Ahead of the Field believe this part of the test to be very important. This test shows that you not only have a very extensive knowledge, but are also capable of passing that knowledge on to your pupils quickly and efficiently. Passing this section will increase your confidence, which in turn will promote confidence in your pupils. This test is a 2 part test lasting approximately 1 hr during which your examiner will take on the part of a Pupil, in part 1 they will be a beginner or a pupils with limited experience and during part 2 they will be a pupil who is close to test standard. The examiner will be testing your quality of instruction and your ability to pass on your knowledge. As with Part 2 you will be given 3 chances to pass this section. Failure to pass within this period will result in your having to wait 2 years before trying again and then starting again with Part 1.
How we will help you become a Driving Instructor?
Part 1. This part of the course is for the most part home study. We will supply you with all books and reference materials necessary. We will help you through any problem areas and answer any questions you may have, by providing 1 to 1 consultation and or phone assistance when necessary,
Part 2.
Driving Instructors require a high standard in driving ability, although you may have been driving carefully for a number of years, this section is vital to bring you up to date with today’s standard and also iron out any bad habits you may have picked up. We will provide you with 1 to 1 tuition at times to suit you, with 20 hrs of practical tuition included in the package. Any further tuition necessary will be charged extra at an hourly rate.
Part 3.
Duriing this section of the course you will be given min 40 hrs top quality role play tuition provided by a highly qualified and experienced instructor, on a 1 to1 basis at times to suit yourself. Your training will be structured to give you the full range of ‘sub skills’ needed to pass this section of the course. These sub skills are :- Core competencies, instructional techniques and instructor characteristics. To further assist you will be given full access to our lesson module Dvd’s,
